these anime feature some of the best hand to hand and close combat sakuga fighting scenes in existence,

I've never been this emersed in an anime fight for as long as I can remember. I thought Eiji was gonna make Ash lose his focus, causing him to lose. That got me gud lol

I hate what Eiji did ffs 😭 I still love him tho but it's just argh Eiji why? This was too painful to watch 😩

if it makes you feel better, I'm pretty sure Eiji actually helped Ash here. If you pay attention to the way Ash has been acting lately (talking about the leopard, asking Max if he'll continue chasing banana fish, not wanting the better gun because he doesn't think he'll be able to stop himself from killing people, not fearing death, thinking death would be a kindness, etc) it seems as though Ash did not intend his fight with Arthur to be something he would survive. Not as in he would lose, but rather that Arthur would go down with him. So when Eiji called his name, rather than distracting him and putting him in danger, he was actually saving Ash's life. And that is exactly the reason Eiji rushed to get to him and called for him. Because he saw (most of) those aforementioned signs.

At least this episode is the peak of Eiji's annoyingness. Also, I'm pretty sure I've heard the song that plays during the leopard story in some lofi studying video.
